Wo have been so inundated of late with works on digestion and indigestion, that when we see a new treatise we are disposed to wonder whether it contains a particle of new matter. Dr. Wilson Fox's book purports to be a step in a somewhat novel direction, viz., an effort to link together the treatment and the pathology of stomach affections. The author is Professor of Pathological Anatomy in University College, London, and, from his experience in that institution, has had ample opportunity of studying the microscopic appearance of the stomach in its several diseased conditions. He now gives the results of these observations to the profession, but we cannot say that they strike us as being of much importance. The two plates which accompany the book represent the structure of the stomach in disease, but we doubt whether many of the appearances which they depict may not be observed, as post-mortem changes, in stomachs which cannot reasonably be supposed to be
